News about June 3, 2009 event for "One Swim",
The Bertha Boschulte Adventure Camp, and "The Treasures of the Earth" Program.
All we can say is WOW, and a giant THANK YOU for a wonderful event and a fabulous turn out for our latest Dinner and a Cause at "The Room" in Red Hook. Thanks to you, we were over one hundred attendees strong and raised $5130 for three wonderful summer youth programs. Amazing! A check for $1710 each was sent to One Swim, Inc. to fund a learn to swim summer program; to Caribbean Islands Education Foundation for their program, “Treasures of the Earth” presented at VIERS summer camp and teaches children about our islands geology; and to VI Institute for Teaching and Learning for a chess program at Bertha Boschulte Adventure Camp.
It just goes to show you the power of one. Each of us is an individual, and look what we can do when we come together. Thanks to you, there are a lot of kids on the island that will have good, wholesome activities to do this summer. We are so proud to be a part of all of you and Dinner and a Cause. Without each and every one of you Dinner and a Cause would not exist, and we thank you so very much.
Donating 100% of the proceeds of these events would not be possible without the generosity of the island restaurants and those who have opened their homes to us and we are most appreciative. It would be difficult to adequately thank the owners of The Room and Kristy Solt, their event manager. We honor them for their commitment and support of community programs and in particular their support of Dinner and A Cause. This is the third event they have hosted for us. The food and the venue were simply wonderful.
